MY STORY
My love for letterpress started when I discovered it in a required class for my graphic design program. So much of what we do today is automated and digitized. I felt that the manual and tactile aspect of letterpress offered the perfect counterpoint to that. I acquired my small, yet beastly heavy, tabletop press in 2020 after my sister gave me some metal type that she had rescued from being thrown away. I had dreamed of owning a press, and this gave me the perfect excuse to get one. It was shipped to me from Ohio and I operate it from my basement in Utah. Thanks to some modern advancements, I can print hand drawn designs converted from a digital file to a polymer plate which I stick to a metal base that sits in my press where it can be inked and printed onto paper. I find that application super exciting! I named my press "Marj" in honor of my grandma Marjorie, who was a graphic designer and artist.
